Job description
Are you looking for a new challenge?
Fancy helping us shape the future of motor insurance?
Prima could be the place for you.
Since 2015, we’ve been using our love of data and tech to rethink motor insurance and bring drivers a great experience at a great price. Our story began in Italy, where we’ve quickly become the number one online motor insurance provider. In fact, we’re trusted by over 4 million drivers. And now we’re expanding to help millions more drivers in the UK and Spain.
To help fuel that growth, we need a BI Claims Specialist to join our Claims UK team.
Our Claims Team is a pillar of our strategic plan for Prima’s future growth. During the first six to twelve months of this role, you will work closely with our software development team to build integrations between our proprietary Global Claims Platform and external portals and datasets, such as the Official Injury Claims (OIC) and Ministry of Justice (MoJ) portals.
Excited to make an impact? Here are the details
What you'll do: In the initial six to twelve months, you will focus on building our Bodily Injury (BI) Claims capabilities: Scoping out business requirements: Map out what business requirements need to be factored into the proprietary Global Claims Platform, with respect to Bodily Injury Claims. You will work with Product/Engineering to scope internal features and functionality, as well as external integrations with portals such as the OIC/MoJ and relevant external datasets. Acting as a BI subject-matter expert to the Platform team: Work alongside Product / Engineering to provide advice and expertise on BII-specific areas as we build out these features and functionalities in the Global Claims Platform. Lead the testing of newly built features to ensure the Platform meets the needs of future Claims Specialists in this area. Developing BI Claims processes: Assist with designing future claims processes for managing cases involving Bodily Injury, and work with Product / Engineering to embed these processes into the Platform. Build processes which aim to resolve BI cases fairly and effectively in line with industry requirements and legal guidelines, whether that be dealing with claimants directly or legally represented. Within six to twelve months, you will focus on managing bodily Injury (BI) cases directly: BI case management: Handle a portfolio of motor claims involving bodily injury, including multi-party incidents, vulnerable parties and litigation. Conduct thorough investigations into liability, damages, and policy coverage, ensuring compliance with regulatory and Prima-internal guidelines. Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate responsibly. Financial discipline: Accurately evaluate liability and quantum of damages across Bodily injury cases, setting appropriate reserves in line with Prima’s reserving philosophy and managing claim spend effectively. Where appropriate, liaise effectively with claimants, solicitors, and other third-parties to achieve optimal case outcomes. Litigation oversight: Proactively manage litigation files, instructing and liaising with external Legal panel, medical experts, and other specialists whilst maintaining meticulous documentation and ensuring that actions and decisions are clearly justified and well-communicated.
What we’re looking for: Proven experience (5+ years) handling motor-related bodily injury claims from inception through to settlement Familiarity with government-linked personal injury frameworks and portals, including Official Injury Claim (OIC) and Ministry of Justice (MoJ) claims services as well as knowledge of the differing jurisdictions in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Technical knowledge of UK motor insurance coverages, bodily injury, and civil procedure law, including the claims process and litigation framework Deep understanding of indemnity, liability assessment, and quantum calculation/estimation in bodily injury cases Comfortable working in a growing / scale-up business environment
