Prima Spain doubles its business volume and reaches almost €40 million in premiums in 2025

The insurtech company has grown by 95.9% year-on-year.

It plans to expand its Spanish team by approximately 30% in 2026.

Backing from AXA Group and sports sponsorship continue to drive Prima’s growth and brand awareness in the Spanish insurance market.

Madrid, March 12, 2026. Prima, the insurtech company specialising in car insurance, closed 2025 with €39 million in premiums issued in Spain. With €20 million recorded in 2024, this represents a year-on-year growth of 95.9%.

Since launching there in 2022, Prima has strengthened its position in the Spanish market. The company now has over 150,000 customers in Spain. And it continues to gain ground in the car insurance sector, thanks to a focus on technology, advanced analytics and operational efficiency. This focus allows for rapid scaling in a highly competitive environment.

New backing from the AXA Group

As well as these results, 2025 also saw Prima reach an agreement to join the AXA Group. The insurtech company will now leverage the strength, resources and experience of one of the world's leading insurance groups. At the same time, it will continue to build on its own strengths in technology, pricing and claims management. These strengths have been key to Prima’s success in the Italian insurance market and its international expansion.

The agreement strengthens Prima’s position within the European insurtech market . It reflects Prima’s ambition to further accelerate growth in Spain, a priority market in its strategic roadmap.

Spain as a key market in the expansion plan

In 2025, Prima also showed its commitment to the Spanish market with the launch of its first television campaign and a direct sales channel on helloprima.es.

What’s more, Prima continues to expand its local team. It plans to increase its workforce in Spain by around 30% by the end of this year, when the team will exceed 180 people.

Sports sponsorship as a lever for brand awareness

Prima will also continue to use sports sponsorship to build brand recognition and trust. Since 2022, the insurer has been the main sponsor of the Prima Pramac Racing MotoGP team, an alliance that has helped increase international visibility.

In Spain, Prima’s three-year agreement with Real Betis, effective from the 2025/26 season, complements this global strategy. The collaboration allows the company to increase brand awareness in the Spanish market, connect with new audiences and support the growth of direct distribution through its website and new television and radio campaigns.

“Closing 2025 by doubling our business volume and reaching €39 million in premiums in Spain confirms the strength of our model and our strong reception in the market,” says Ignacio Castilla, Country Manager of Prima Spain. “We’ve achieved this while also improving our claims experience and the robustness of our processes. It shows that it is possible to grow rapidly while maintaining a focus on profitability and building a sustainable business.”
