Overview
Job description
Are you looking for a new challenge?
Fancy helping us shape the future of motor insurance?
Prima could be the place for you.
Since 2015, we’ve been using our love of data and tech to rethink motor insurance and bring drivers a great experience at a great price. Our story began in Italy, where we’ve quickly become the number one online motor insurance provider. In fact, we’re trusted by over 5 million drivers. And now we’re expanding to help millions more drivers in the UK and Spain.
To fuel this growth, we’re looking for a Strategic Finance Associate to join our UK Finance team.
The Strategic Finance team sits at the intersection of Finance, Strategy and business performance. We work closely with the UK CFO, UK Leadership and Group Finance to shape the UK Strategy, translate it into financial and operational plans, monitor performance and support the most important decisions as the business scales.
As Strategic Finance Associate, you will work closely with the UK CFO, the wider Finance team and senior leaders across the UK business, taking full ownership of high-impact workstreams across planning, forecasting, performance management and strategic projects. You will be supported by a Strategic Finance Analyst and expected to drive your work from problem definition and analysis through to insight, recommendation and execution.
Strong technical and analytical capabilities are foundational: You will be expected to develop robust financial models, business plans, forecasts and scenarios. What will differentiate you is what you do with them: Applying commercial judgement and critical thinking, investigating the drivers behind performance, providing the “so what” and turning analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, curious and collaborative: Someone who investigates issues, works with the right people, understands the business context and drives solutions forward. You will continuously look for ways to simplify processes, automate work and improve efficiency and effectiveness, using strong stakeholder and project management to create momentum and get things done.
Excited to make an impact? Here are the details.
Financial Planning & Analysis: Play a central role in strategic planning, forecasting and scenario analysis. Develop and own robust financial models and business plans, translate objectives into financial and operational outcomes, challenge assumptions and identify the risks, opportunities and actions behind performance.
Finance Business Partnering & Performance: Partner with leaders across the UK business to understand performance, challenge thinking and support key commercial and operational decisions. Build business cases, monitor KPIs and proactively investigate performance gaps, turning data into insights and actions. Build dashboards and performance frameworks that drive accountability and focus.
Strategic Projects: Take ownership of high-impact strategic and cross-functional projects for the UK CFO and UK Leadership. Independently structure problems, bring together data and stakeholders, develop recommendations and drive workstreams through to decisions and execution. Support the Strategic Finance Analyst through direction and coaching, while remaining accountable for delivery.
Process Improvement & Automation: Continuously challenge how we work. Identify opportunities to simplify processes, automate repetitive activities and improve the efficiency, effectiveness and scalability of Finance, and drive improvements through to implementation.
Executive & Board Reporting: Design and deliver clear, insightful materials for the UK Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Turn complex financial and operational information into concise narratives focused on what matters, why it matters and what action should follow, using effective stakeholder and project management to drive outcomes.
Up to 5 years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Investment Banking (M&A), Transaction Services (Financial Due Diligence), Strategy Consulting, or similar Finance roles within start-ups or scale-ups. Experience in insurance is a plus, but not required
Excellent financial modelling and analytical capabilities. You can confidently develop financial models, business plans, forecasts and scenarios; these are foundational skills rather than the differentiator.
Strong commercial judgement and critical thinking. You naturally ask what is driving an outcome, whether assumptions make sense, what the analysis means for the business and what the “so what” is.
A proactive, curious and high-ownership mindset. You investigate questions, find the right data and people, and drive issues towards resolution rather than wait for direction. You actively look for ways to simplify, automate and improve how things work.
Strong stakeholder and project management skills, with the ability to build trust, manage dependencies, create momentum and drive cross-functional work forward.
An excellent team player and collaborator: Approachable, responsive and reliable, with a genuine willingness to help others and a style that makes people want to work with you. Strong communication skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into clear narratives for senior, technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in Excel and presentation tools (PowerPoint / Google Slides) is essential; Tableau, SQL and Python are a plus.
🏁 Grow with us: We may move fast at Prima, but we move together. Get access to learning resources, mentorship and a growth plan tailored to you.
🌈 Thrive and perform: Your best work begins when you feel your best. Enjoy private healthcare, gym discounts, wellbeing programs and mental health support.
