To achieve our ambitious goals, we are seeking experienced AWS engineers to optimise our AWS tooling efficiently and effectively.

As a senior SRE , you will play a critical role in supporting Prima's international expansion. Working closely with the Italian operations team and reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will utilise your comprehensive knowledge and experience in infrastructure and security to independently support the needs of different regions. Your expertise will contribute to the ongoing development of our platform, which has global aspirations. By adopting this global perspective, we aim to enhance Prima's standing as a prominent player in the insurance industry across multiple regions.


Responsibilities

  • Configure secure and maintainable cloud infrastructure components within AWS, collaborating with product and development teams across regions.
  • Implement robust monitoring and reporting mechanisms to optimise performance and cost efficiency of our global cloud infrastructure.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to ensure the stability and reliability of our cloud infrastructure worldwide.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should meet the following qualifications and possess the necessary skills:

  • Deep understanding and experience in infrastructure and security, with relevant certifications (e.g., CKA, CKAD, CKS), or equivalent working experience
  • Excellent knowledge of AWS services and hands-on experience in production environments
  • Proficiency with networking protocols, DNS principles, and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Helm Charts)
  • Experience in proposing, discussing, and implementing changes to CI/CD systems, specifically GitHub Actions, while providing developer support
  • Knowledge of multiple domains, particularly in the insurance business and company key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple programming languages and expertise in structuring complex software and libraries
  • Ensure code quality through proper structuring, commenting, and adherence to guidelines
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proactive analysis of incidents, implementation of preventive solutions, and writing comprehensive post-mortem reports
  • Engage in discussions with stakeholders to propose solutions and ensure timely execution of work plans
  • Contribute to maintaining and introducing new standards and guidelines, including training junior team members and participating in recruiting processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork


Nice to have

We highly value candidates with the following characteristics:

  • Experience working in heavily regulated environments, handling high volumes of sensitive and personal data in industries such as Insurance, Banking, or Healthcare
  • Expertise in microservices architecture, including principles, best practices, and challenges in designing and managing microservices-based systems
  • Experience with DataDog for platform and application monitoring, including setup, configuration, and analysis of metrics for performance optimisation
  • Basic understanding of RabbitMQ, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, Rust, and Elixir, enabling troubleshooting and maintenance tasks in these technologies when required
  • Fundamental database structure skills for maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, ensuring stability and performance
  • Familiarity with managing big data tools such as Apache Airflow (MWAA), Spark (EMR), supporting data processing, transformation, and visualisation at scale
  • Exposure to security technologies like Cloudflare, Wireguard, or OpenVPN for implementing and maintaining secure networking environments

The employment is Full Time. This role can be fully office based, part-remote or fully remote. We currently have offices in London (UK), Milan and Rome (Italy), Madrid (Spain) with more countries due to open soon.
